Tammy Miller


Tammy S. Miller is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She earned both a BSW (Bachelor of Social Work) and MSW (Master of Social Work) degrees from North Carolina State University. With over 15 years of experience working with a diverse group of individuals, Tammy helps her clients with emotional, mental and spiritual concerns that prevent them from leading fulfilling lives. She treats older adolescents through geriatric adults offering counseling that is both nonjudgmental and compassionate. Tammy enjoys helping couples with relationship concerns such as emotional/sexual intimacy, infidelity and communication.

Operating from a strengths-based perspective ,Tammy’s specialty areas include depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, grief and loss, codependency, divorce recovery, communication difficulties, spirituality, anger management, stress management, parenting concerns, and PTSD/trauma.

During her previous employment in human services organizations both in Johnston and Wake counties, Tammy developed a broad-based knowledge of community resources and human services providers. As a community college counselor and adjunct instructor, she has assisted students with work/school stressors, academic underachievement, and career planning.
Tammy’s therapeutic approach is both collaborative and client-centered. She utilizes a variety of modalities, including cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, solution focused brief therapy (SFBT), interpersonal therapy, eclectic and motivational interviewing. Christian counseling for clients that choose to incorporate their faith into counseling is offered upon request. Tammy sees clients from all spiritual backgrounds and respects the individual views of each client.

***When working with couples Tammy uses Gottman Method Couples Therapy. She has also completed EMDR  Training a  psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences
