Monique Sorensen


Monique received her Bachelor of Art’s degree from North Carolina State University in Psychology and her Master of Art’s degree from North Carolina Central University in Mental Health Counseling. She also received a master’s level certificate in Substance Abuse Counseling from East Carolina University. Monique is a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. She is registered with the National Board of Certified Counselors as a Nationally Certified Counselor and Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor. She works primarily from a person-centered approach but also tries to incorporate gestalt, motivational and cognitive behavioral techniques into her therapy sessions.  She has experience working with individuals in an outpatient setting including substance abuse intensive outpatient treatment as well as individual and family therapy.  She enjoys working with families, adolescents, couples and adults.  Her areas of practice include mood disorders, anxiety concerns, substance use concerns, self-esteem, relationship issues, depression and adjustment issues.
