Denise completed her BA in Sociology at California State University, San Bernardino and her Master’s degree from Tulane University in Social Work in 1994. She has been licensed as an independent Social Work Clinician since 1998. Additionally, she completed 3 years of post-graduate work in the field of Social Work at Hunter College. Denise Has lived locally in North Carolina since 2007.  
Denise has had the privilege of working in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings serving adolescents and adults. Her work with adolescents and adults continues to be her primary focus. As a mental health counselor who brings 18 years of licensed experience, Denise uses an interactive and caring approach to build a successful working relationship that is guided by the individual needs of the client. While guided by a strength-based perspective, she incorporates a variety of modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Systems Therapy, Psychoeducation, Psychodynamic Theories and Solution Focused Therapy.    
 Denise especially enjoys working with anxiety, depression, severe persistent mental illness, grief and loss, women’s issues, self-esteem, codependency and personality disorders. She is passionate about her work and seeing her client’s overcome obstacles.
